Last week I had the pleasure to visit a few stops of the Dutch Design Week, which is held each year in the city of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The city is filled with design lovers who want to see new pieces of established designers, but also the newcomers. If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should) you’ve already some scenes on my stories. So now I’ll give you a little recap of the stops I’ve visited.
ELLE DECORATION NL
One of the stops was at Strijp-T (where that above awesome mural is). In the building, TQ, Elle Decoration styled a beautiful Tiny Penthouse with an awesome outdoor rooftop terrace. I was immediately in love with the vinyl floor rugs. These are designed by Tarkett. Because of the material you can place them outside, offices, elevators and even in a kids room (where lots of spills happen).
But that rooftop terrace was ready for me to host my party. Maybe next time in collaboration with Elle, want do you think?!
STUDIO RENS
Studio Rens gallery was located in the building of Piet Hein Eek at Strijp-S.Studio Rens is a research-based design studio from the city of Eindhoven. The brains behind it (Renee Mennen & Stefanie van Keijsteren) initiates projects in which color often plays a key role. They presented some of their latest projects which were in collaboration with other designers/brands.
ONTWERPDUO
ONTWERPDUO was also located at the lot of Piet Hein Eek. The unique design display of lights is a creative collaboration between Tineke Beunders & Nathan Wierink.
Light Forest is a very soft way of industrial lighting. Using soft colors like pink for the finishing touch. And their newest light design, Contour, is surely a big statement when entering the room. The cool thing about it is that it changes colors.
STOOK
STOOK is a porcelain jewelry collection founded by Mianne de Vries. She choose to make a unique jewelry label by working with porcelain. Because of the material, you have to wear it with love. I really liked these earrings. It’s actually one design that you can wear in several ways. Besides earrings, her collection consists of rings, necklaces, brooches, and pins.
CEDILLE BY FRANCIOSE OOSTWEGEL
Franciose Oostwegel is a young designer that graduated with the design of Lamp Zuid. This lamp can be hanged but also placed on the floor. The design is very cool indeed. Her designs (creations as she calls them) are inspired by retro designs and artifacts. She applies out-of-the-ordinary materials and colors and reinvigorates them; she recycles old materials and products by giving them a second life. Her display of beautiful products was also at the Piet Hein Eek lot.
PIET HEIN EEK
Yes, Piet Hein Eek, one of the pioneers of design. This man has lots of designs with his name on it. From chairs to tables to fabric to wallpaper. You name it, and I think he has designed it. I even saw him walking from his workplace to his restaurant, but I’m not one to go say HIIIIIII. Too shy for that. Two years ago, I also visited his workspace and showroom at the DDW.
So that was my little recap of the designers I’ve seen that day. There was a lot to see and I think you really have to plan a few days to see everything. It was a great afternoon of inspiration for designs.
