It’s been a while since I got the chance to walk around and go spotting new places. A few weeks ago I came across the new edition of the concept store Bijblauw, so I had to go take a peek. It’s located in one of the most colorful neighborhoods on the island of Curacao, the Pietermaai District.
BijBlauw means literally Near Blue. I think because basically the bluest sea is just behind the BijBlauw restaurant. BijBlauw is also a boutique hotel and has delicious restaurant in the back of this beautiful restored yellow building.
But today I’m just going to take you around the concept store. It has the store part in the back with beautiful linen clothes and handmade accessories from international designers. In the front of the building they added the new little cafe where you can get some great juices and smoothies. Everything you see in there is also for sale. From the cutest leaf print chairs to handmade leathers stool made by fishermen from Morocco. It’s a place to chill and basically reflect on life…okay the last one is a bit deep but it’s really a relaxed place to have a bit of a read if you must.
You enter and feel a calm and light surrounding with lots of natural materials. The use of white and grey is also a touch to keep the interior light and popping it up here and where with colorful patterns.
Freshly made juices or smoothies are some of the options to drink so you can take a break from the heat outside. Some airy music to let you come to peace. I found it a very great spot to get inspired for my work.
And just behind this little cafe is another part where you can get some great fashion pieces but also some other home decor items.
And taking a peek outside is also a great way to let you know that you are in a great spot. Because outside is filled with colors. How about a great balance, y’all?!
Well, that’s a great place to be spotted, don’t you think?! And a great mid-week inspiring post to feel you with the need to take another vacay asap!
