Piet Hein Eek

It’s already been two weeks that I’ve visited the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I was excited to go. I got on a train from Rotterdam and got out at Eindhoven Beukenlaan. There you already see the signs and get the feel of the event. I just followed the signs and went my way. The one thing I really wanted to see, was the place of all around designer Piet Hein Eek. He’s like everything what has to do with design.
This factory like building was in the earlier days the work space of Philips (the brand). Now, it’s the place for so much more activities. There is the workplace where they make their unique furniture, they have their beautiful showroom, there is a restaurant, a shop, offices, galleries and they even rent out studio’s to other designers or artists for them to showcase their work.

I didn’t know the made these beautiful bed covers. The variation of fabric on display there is just crazy beautiful. You surely will get something with an unique design on it. It loved the colors, the patterns. The only thing that I didn’t love was that I wasn’t able to buy one and take home. Was a bit out of my budget at that moment.

Having one huge head like this in your living room would give your neighbors the bejeezus at night, but this would be a great art display in an office space, don’t you think?!

How about those small rugs together?! They are hold together with buttons, making it eventually a big rug. This place is really a must see if you ever in the Netherlands. So much inspiration in so many hours. When I was finished I couldn’t see more of the Dutch Design Week, but I was satisfied with this alone.
It’s oh my god Friday already. Wishing you all a very good one, whatever the moments might bring. I’ll see you all next week here. Tadaaa
