Recap Miami, Key West & Cozumel

As you know last week I took a trip with my husband and friends to Miami and we took a cruise that took us to Key West and then to Cozumel, Mexico. If you are following me on Instagram, you already got a peek of what or where we were. I’m going to be totally honest with you that I can’t recall the names of shops or museums I’ve taken a picture of either locations. We stayed 2 weekends in Miami and visited South Beach, several malls and had a lot of down time. If you do a trip with friends, I recommend you take friends that don’t mind doing NOT everything together. It doesn’t put pressure to be together all the time. We relaxed when needed and did most of the dinners together. We had a blast.

When we arrived in Key West, we planned to rent some scooters and drive around. But for some weird reason, they didn’t accept credit-cards to pay for the rental. None of us had enough cash on us to pay, so we split up and walked around the town. My husband and I sat on some stairs and were entertained and amazed by this local artist, who was making baskets and hats from palm tree leaves. It was totally awesome that I bought one. To bad it isn’t green anymore. But it’s still beautiful. If you are visiting an island or country, try to buy some from a local artist. Always a plus to support them. Some people just gave him money for his artwork without taking a basket or hat. Key West is beautiful and very clean (for the parts we saw). It’s a bit expensive though.

The sky was so clear, I could see the moon. But it was very hot and not very windy, so we shorten the trip quickly by going back on the cruise ship.

The weather at Cozumel was not so clear sky and lots of rain. There isn’t a lot to see, especially if it’s raining. But we didn’t discourage and we rented a jeep. Wasn’t the best jeep, but it took us around the island. What I loved was that it was so green. It has been months that it really rained here on Curacao, so it was refreshing to see so much green all around.

We stopped at this ranch, Hacienda Antigua, where you can get a tour of how they make tequila. We didn’t get a chance to do so as it rained. So we bought some guacamole and tacos and chilled for a few minutes, before we went our way again. The people were so friendly. We’ve already experienced their friendliness when we went to Cancun last January. I really liked their bathroom signs. I wanted to take it home with me and hang in our bathroom at home. So cute.

We were soaked when we got back on the ship. Thank god they have a little mall that you can walk through before entering the ship. So it made the walking distance between the mall and the ship (just) a bit shorter
